Fresh off of its live debut at Coachella, Blondshell (Sabrina Teitelbaum) unveils a first taste of her next album with the release of Heart Has To Work So Hard, out today via Partisan Records. The track marks her first new music since the release of her critically acclaimed album If You Asked For A Picture and its companion release Another Picture(featuring Conor Oberst, Samia, John Glacier, Gigi Perez, and more) and coincides with the announcement of her biggest headlining shows to date this autumn.

‘Heart Has To Work So Hard’ is a kinetic, propulsive introduction to Blondshell’s most urgent songwriting to date. Opening with drums and bass locked in a locomotive pulse, the track builds with a relentless momentum as Blondshell’s cool, controlled monotone mimics the sound of an overworked heart. That driving mechanical tension surges into an instantly addictive chorus, where she pairs a standout vocal performance with the sharp turns-of-phrase that she’s become known for- a feral declaration on the fallout of a fraying friendship:

You give me paws
You get me scaring strangers
You get me criticizing
You make this feel like labor
My heart has to work so hard when you’re around

A master class in the push and pull between tension and release, ‘Heart Has To Work So Hard’ finds Blondshell’s songwriting more taut and ferocious than ever with its chorus ranking amongst one of her catchiest yet. Blondshell explains:

“This song is really about friendship and betrayal, getting stuck in a dynamic and letting things fester. It’s about pain and confusion — no one trains you for the ups and downs of a friendship between two women — but it’s also about a love so enduring that you find compassion no matter what.”

Accompanying the new single is the announcement of a major headline tour of North America and Europe/UK this fall, with the stateside dates kicking off October 14 in San Diego and concluding November 7 in Boston. Blondshell will headline her biggest shows to date including venues like The Wiltern in Los Angeles, where she will reunite with her “Docket” partner Bully on October 16, followed by Terminal 5 in her hometown of New York City on November 6 and her biggest UK headline to date at The Roundhouse, London in December.  Supporting Blondshell on select dates include Bully, Starcleaner Reunion, Prewn, TTSSFU, and Theatre. All dates are listed below and tickets are on-sale Friday, May 22 at 10am local time.

Blondshell’s previous release, If You Asked For A Picture, landed on numerous Best Of 2025 and Best Of 2025 (So far) lists, including Vogue, Billboard, Rolling Stone, NME, Alternative Press, FLOOD Magazine, and more. The album’s tracks have also received individual recognition, with ‘T&A’ – which she performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! – named as one of Rolling Stone’s The Best 100 Songs of 2025 (#20), Billboard’s 50 Best Songs of 2025 So Far and Consequence’s 100 Best Songs of 2025 So Far (#29), while ‘What’s Fair’ was included in the LA Times’ 25 Best Songs of 2025 So Far.
