Brand New – The Quiet Things That No-One Ever Knows (Sore Point Records)

The chug-a-chug bassline and punky chords initially leave your heart sinking to the bottom of your indie-saturated boots. but then Brand New have an ace up their sleeves – the cheeky scamps manage to do something special by magically morphing into ‘Suds And Soda’ era Deus(remember them?) – all manic shouting over each other like a sack of excitable puppies. It’s like a load of drunks trying to get their order in, at the last bar in the world. It certainly leaves Brand New from sounding like every other guitar-toting metalheads out there.

It certainly had me worried for a second there. 7.7/110
