BREAKBOT – the French producer/DJ and esteemed member of the Ed Banger family – has unveiled a brand new animated music video for his recent single: Be Mine Tonight.
The concept for the animated video was born out of an experience during Breakbot’s tour in Japan last year, where he became engrossed in the kitchy arcade scene that is prevalent in Tokyo. He found himself wanting to make a song to soundtrack that dopamine-inducing experience of achieving a high score at a public arcade. The animated video for ‘Be Mine Tonight’ features a sprightly child achieving a new high score on an old-school dance machine her local arcade.
Breakbot is personally a huge fan of animation himself, particularly anime and manga, which inspired the video. In fact, prior to his career in music, Breakbot actually worked professionally in 3D art and design. Several of his other videos have also been animated, including for his best known song “Baby I’m Yours”, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this month.“Animation is one of my lifetime passions, and also one of my early jobs. It was quite natural for Be Mine Tonight to use that inspiring art form, as I did on my first music video Baby I’m Yours.”
Breakbot released the audio single Be Mine Tonight back in April. The instrumental was used in a new Chanel ad campaign, featuring Chanel brand ambassador and superproducer Pharrell, American actress Margaret Qualley, Belgian pop singer Angèle, French actress Isabelle Adjani and French singer/songwriter Sébastien Tellier.
Breakbot also recently released a brand new mix – Breakbot’s Lockdown Boogie Mix – a 60 min mix full of feel-good disco tracks, very necessary at a time like this. With another single slated for release in the coming weeks, Breakbot continues to supply the world with effervescent sonic vibes, bringing some joy to music fans during these trying times.
