“rollicking debut album” – Q Magazine

“Get a fistful of the latest crashing single from this powerhouse band” – Nowness

“Featuring crashing percussion and fierce AF vocals, the debut single is an explosive and triumphant return. In-your-face and invigorating, it’s a no-holds-barred rock song that is bold and breath taking” – Wonderland

“their debut features dizzy, Paisley Underground remakes of Brix-era Fall faves plus a surprising skein of new songs… Significantly more wonderful than it is frightening” – Uncut

“Part 2 wins with the garage-guitar pop of Hollywood and the hard-edged though sugary Teflon.” – Mojo

“Damned for Eternity is a two minute and 15 second punch to the gut of filthy garage power, unrelenting, to the point, and highly infectious. Brix vehemently spits out her lyrics over savage sliding power chords and a rumbling

bass.” – Louder Than War

“this is an extraordinary feat from Brix and chums… The new songs are dynamite; ‘Pneumatic Violet’ is all pulsing sensuality and vitriol and ‘Damned to Eternity’ has the pop smarts and punk snarl of girl group classics.” – 9/10 -Vive Le Rock

Brix & The Extricated will release the deluxe edition of their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Part 2’ on 4th May on Blang Records. The two disc package features 4 bonus tracks and the UNCAGED documentary, which premieres at the 100 Club on 21st March as part of the Soundscreen Film Festival and is followed by a full live set from the band

UNCAGED is the story of the coming together of Brix & The Extricated. They are a union of key former members of The Fall; if Steve Hanley’s elastic bass lines defined the Fall sound, Brix Smith Start’s arrival in the 80s and two spells in the group redefined that sound and took it chartward (and brought a touch of LA glamour to the band’s Salford mean streets look). The line-up is completed with Steve’s brother Paul Hanley on drums, guitarist Steve Trafford (both also Fall refugees) and Irish guitarist Jason Brown.

This intimate film documents the build up to the release of ‘Part 2’. The band talk openly and frankly about their years in The Fall, the joy of making music again and aspirations for the future. The film also includes rarely seen live footage and behind the scenes personal moments.

Documentary maker Daniel Edelstyn captures the band’s collective passion for songwriting and performing as they rekindle the artistic connections that were the catalyst of a classic era in history of The Fall.

UNCAGED is the story of reclamation, the love of making music and the powerful force of collective intention.

Brix Smith Start is one of the few true female rock icons of the indie and alternative era, an inspiration for generations of women, not just those who play music. Her best-selling 2016 autobiography, The Rise, The Fall And The Rise, detailed a hugely eventful life including the years in which she was married to recently passed Fall singer Mark E. Smith. Renowned bassist Steve Hanley’s own acclaimed memoir, 2014’s The Big Week, revealed what is was really like to spend 18 years in the Fall, the longest spell of any member of the iconic and influential Salford group.

The Fall gave Brix & The Extricated a foundation, a history and a pedigree, but this new group is writing its own music and history now. Yes, in their terrific debut album, ‘Part 2’ (a title suggested by Alan McGee, because it’s exactly that) there are elements of vintage Fall, such as strange sonic textures and off-kilter found sounds and they have reworked a number of co-written Fall songs like the spellbinding, psychedelic pop treatment given to 1983’s Hotel Blodel or the new, anthemic focus brought to Feeling Numb, but Brix & the Extricated also bring the raw power of the Stooges, the pop sensibility of prime Blondie, walls of big glam rock guitars and dollops of psychedelia.

Last year Brix won the hearts of many BBC 6Music listeners when she spent a number of weeks sitting in for Guy Garvey. And now with this wonderfully received sonic juggernaut of an album that infuses hypnotic brutality with sunlight, harmony, hooks and riffs, Brix & The Extricated are not only enthralling and delighting their current fans they are swiftly building an army of new ones.
