‘Her debut single is a real head-turner, a trip-hoppy slice of pop-tronica, if you will, it sounds like Grimes getting down and carefree with nature and bodes very well for her future ascendancy.’ – The Crack Magazine
‘Luise has a unique take on songwriting and bringing these alive in her productions, combined with a voice that can capture the small and big audiences alike, while being a humble and down to earth person. It has been a pleasure to work with her, can’t wait to hear more of her music.’ – Jon Boden, Folk Artist
Broken Forest announces 29 July EP and single & shares video
Broken Forest’s second studio EP ‘Wild At Heart’ is set for release on 29 July, supported by Initiative Musik. The first single taken from the record ‘Mother’, which received its radio debut on Chris Hawkins’s BBC Radio 6 show, is already available and a second single ‘Out Into The Wild’, in collaboration with the Dresden indie folk band No King No Crown will be released on 29 July to coincide with the EP’s release. The EP’s 5 Tracks feature songs celebrating the beauty around us, reconnecting us with the rhythm of nature and helping us find our own inner strength for life’s challenges; transporting the listener to wild and untamed places …
A true organic breath of fresh air – Broken Forest is the music project of songwriter, singer and producer Luise London. Since she was a young child, Luise has had a great passion for nature and its connection to our lives and minds. These and other heartfelt messages are delicately translated into Broken Forest’s music, with sweet vocals hanging over a mesmerising blend of Atmospheric Indie-Folk and Organic Electronica. The sometimes harsh and coldness of modern, urban life meets the sensibility and beauty of nature.
Nature sounds are purposefully embedded into ambient synths, violin and guitar effects. The music is inspired by a variety of different genres from traditional UK and Irish Folk, to Pop and Trip-Hop, and artists such as Bon Iver, Kate Bush or Daughter. The lyrics are filled with strong imagery representing the story, often generated through traditional tales Luise used to read as a child, combined with the struggles of today’s society through her sometimes dark, but romantic view on life.
Nature’s inspiration for Luise’s work continues into the live shows. Through projections accompanying the music, Broken Forest invites you into their world…
About the EP / song notes
Mother (available now)
Mother’ is the first release of Broken Forest’s upcoming EP ’Wild At Heart’ and
is about reflection and the bond between mother and child.
It is Broken Forest’s take on the current relationship we have with our planet, where we are starting to realise just how vast and interconnected the natural system is, how we are a part of it and that a lot that mother nature has taught or given us has been almost lost or forgotten over time.
Produced by Luise London (the artist behind Broken Forest) and Simon Massey (producer of Afro Celt Sound System), featuring effects and vocal lines by the wolves of the Yellowstone National Park, Guitar & Bass by Rafael Klitzing and mastered at Echolux Studio, Leipzig.
Out Into The Wild (single release date 29 July 2022)
With our modern, hectic lifestyle, we often feel overwhelmed. With stressful jobs, technology around us that constantly demands our attention, and the challenges of the crowded urban space, we get caught up in everyday routines where we lose ourselves and forget to see what’s really important to us.
‘Out Into The Wild’ is about exactly that; two people stuck in their daily lives, unaware of what they really feel and what they want out of life.
For them, the way out: to go into nature, to follow the call of the wild, to get away from it all, to reconnect with yourself and to start hearing the inner voice.
This soulful and honest folk-pop song is a collaboration between indie-folk artists No King No Crown and Broken Forest.
With a focus on the interplay of both voices, an atmospheric instrumentation of electric and acoustic guitars, synthesisers as well as driving beats and bass that invites listeners to leave everyday life behind and to follow into the adventure too: Ready for Out Into The Wild?
Produced by Philipp Makolies
Fierce As A Dragon
All too often we doubt ourselves and we are unaware of what we are actually capable of, until we are thrown into situations where we just have to muster our courage and take on whatever life throws at us and all too often we realise our true strength in the process.
(Just like Bilbo Baggins… )
Produced by Luise London (the artist behind Broken Forest)
Spirit Of The Meadows
Have you ever watched the skylarks dancing over the fields?
Luise spent a week writing in the wilderness at the Knoydart Songwriting Retreat, Scotland in 2021 and was fascinated by the little skylarks flying and singing across Scotland’s meadows, jumping up out of nowhere as you are passing by.
Produced by Luise London (the artist behind Broken Forest)
Featuring singing of the Skylark, recorded in Scotland by The Sound Approach
Atlantic Winds
Inspired by the rough and magical west coast of Ireland, as you take a moment to yourself, breathing in the Atlantic air and you realise that the person you have become or what you are showing to the outside world is not who you really are and you need to leave behind what is holding you back from what you are truly longing for. Following your own dreams and rhythm, sparked by the clearing energy of summer’s thunderstorm.
Produced by Luise London (the artist behind Broken Forest) featuring Chris Anderson (From the Irish band Missing The Ferry) on Violin and Jam Phelps on Drums

Broken Forest – biog
Born in Leipzig, Luise took her first musical steps in the UK, more precisely London, where she successfully completed her Bachelor in Songwriting at the Institute for Contemporary Music Performance, which has produced artists such as Daughter and Foxes, among others.
There Luise not only deepened her skills as a songwriter and independent artist, but also discovered her passion for music production,
which she deepened with a Master’s degree in Audio Production at Westminster University. It was there that the story of Broken Forest began with the release of their self-produced EP ‘Lost in Fairy Tales’ in 2017 under their own label.
Lead singles ‘Winter’ and ‘Peter’ were not only played on independent radio stations across the UK but also received celebratory press mentions from Crack Magazine amongst others. This has earned her a performance with the band Daughter and the PRS event ‘Finding the Female Headliner’ alongside Annabel Allum and Nova Twins, among others.
This was followed by live shows in Milan, Italy, exciting German and UK festival appearances such as Boomtown Fair and Magical Festival and joint UK and German tour dates with No King No Crown from Dresden, in 2019.
Luise followed this up with the release of the Live EP by AWAL, recorded at the Old Church, Stoke Newington, London, as well as the single ‘Ghosts in the Dark’, which was voted Song of the Day by Folk Radio and in December 2020 she released a heart warming Yule inspired single ‘Stories Under the Pine Tree’.
