FITS OF REASON ALBUM ART UNVEILED

Mar. 6, 2013, Providence, R.I. – Brown Bird, the Rhode Island pairing of David Lamb and Morgan Eve Swain that perform on two of the year’s most anticipated festivals, Sasquatch and Stagecoach, are streaming the song “Seven Hells” from their forthcoming album Fits of Reason (Apr. 2, Supply & Demand Music) via Soundcloud (https:

‘Seven Hells’

The first song to be released from the upcoming album, “Seven Hells” is an update of the classic Brown Bird sound, showcasing electric guitar for the first time in the band’s history. We’re showing a little bit more of our international influences on Fits of Reason,” explains Lamb. “We’ve been listening to a lot of ’60s and ’70s psych-rock from around the world – Pakistan, Peru, Cambodia, Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey.” The pair utilize the simple foot-percussion, violin, cello and upright bass they have become known for but also delve into heavier territory with electric guitar, bass and a more prominent display of metal and psych-rock influences.

The band recently wrapped up a one-month U.S. tour where the pair showcased songs from their critically-acclaimed 2011 release Salt For Salt as well as songs from the upcoming album. Elmore Magazine, commenting on Brown Bird’s sold-out Mercury Lounge performance in early February said, “In the past few years, Rhode Island has become a region of sound not to neglect. Amongst Deer Tick and Joe Fletcher & the Wrong Reasons, Providence duo Brown Bird saves American music – and then some. While their folk/blues sound situates this pair appropriately in the Newport Folk scene, Brown Bird’s eastern European elements separate them from contemporaries.”

Brown Bird launch their next run of U.S. tour dates with a couple of Northeast appearances this month, before kicking off the Fits of Reason album tour with a pair of shows at the Parlor Room in Northampton, Mass on April 3. The forthcoming trek features support act Last Good Tooth. Additional legs of the Fits of Reason tour will be announced soon.
