American Express Presents BST Hyde Park welcomed another year of extraordinary classical music with All Things Orchestral, which returned to Hyde Park for a fourth year as part of the Open House programme on Thursday 2 July. Hosted once more by Myleene Klass MBE, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra – conducted by Stephen Bell – whisked sun-soaked listeners through a mesmerising lineup of classics, with special guest Alfie Boe, celebrating Cinematic Classics and much more.
Alfie Boe delivered an outstanding performance of Lensky’s Aria and Nessun Dorma to a huge crowd in Hyde Park. In the second half, excitement was drummed up with the Jawstheme coming to life, as well as the Pirates of the Caribbean suite. The music didn’t stop there — Boe performed Les Misérables ‘Bring Him Home’ and Eduardo di Capua’s O Sole Mio.
Taking stock of an astounding evening, Klass said: “Didn’t you enjoy Alfie Boe? Wasn’t he just magnificent? Just magnificent!” She said addressing the huge numbers of listeners.
Continuing, she said: “It has been very special indeed, classical music in the sun as you enjoy a drink and an ice cream in [Hyde] Park! So can we take a moment to applaud the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Thank you for joining tonight at BST Hyde Park”.
The hugely successful previous editions have featured some of the biggest names in classical music – from acclaimed US composer Laura Karpman to MILǑS, Alfie Boe and Esther Abrami, with last year hosting the world premiere of The Fantastic Four: First Steps Suite, composed by none other than Oscar-winning Michael Giacchino.
Stephen Bell is a British conductor who trained under Norman Del Mar at the Royal College of Music and has built a varied international career. He holds leadership roles with the City of Oxford Orchestra, Hallé Pops, and RTÉ Concert Orchestra, and works regularly with major UK ensembles including the Royal Philharmonic, BBC orchestras, and Bournemouth Symphony. His work spans classical recordings, BBC Proms appearances, television broadcasts, and collaborations with pop and folk artists.
Returning to compère for a third year, TV and radio presenter, classically trained musician, bestselling author and passionate campaigner, Myleene Klass has hosted major shows like The Classic BRITs, Popstar to OperaStar, The One Show and Musical Masterpieces, presented on Classic FM and Smooth Radio since 2006 and 2014 respectively, and released multiple No.1 classical albums alongside Sunday Times bestselling parenting books.
So, keep your eyes peeled for general sale and get your picnic blanket ready to join us for a celebration of the incredible summer of orchestral music!

Following the run, Mo returned to the Great Oak stage for a Q&A session hosted by presenter Nihal Arthanayake, discussing his achievements and sharing his story of resilience, drive and passion.
Speaking at the event, the gold Olympic medallist said: “This city has so many memories for me as a young boy taking part in a mini marathon, running and looking at your role model and going, one day I’d like to compete in a marathon and doing it. To have this running event in Hyde Park is amazing, so when the team asked me if I’m up for it, I was more than up for it… Let’s go!”
