13 July, 2026 – Lewis Capaldi headlined the second of two headline shows at BST Hyde Park on Sunday night, with The Kooks’ Luke Pritchard joining him for a duet of the band’s 2006 classic, Naive.
Arriving on stage just as the sunset turned the sky gold, Capaldi wore a denim jacket over a white t-shirt and black trousers and kicked off with Hollywood, Grace and the uplifting Heavenly Kind of State of Mind. “Night two! We couldn’t fit another c*** in here if we tried,” he said, with a cheeky smile. “There’s 60,000 people in here – thank you for coming, thank you for being here, thank you for the money. And we’re going to have fun, you and I. I’m going to be sweating, you’re going to be sweating.”
Pointing out flags in the crowd, Capaldi enjoyed that Scotland and Celtic were well represented among his fans. He also couldn’t help but mention England’s Quarter Final win on Saturday night: “Everybody enjoy the football last night? Less said about that the better for me,” he joked.
“We have a shit load of ballads to get through… and by God, we’re going to sing them and we’re going to sing them well.”
And sing the ballads, he did. Almost and Forever followed, before Capaldi’s first ever single – Bruises – had the crowd repeating every lyric. Pointless came next before the poignant Something In The Heavens reset the tone in the dusky evening light.
Following Sam Fender’s surprise appearance last night, Capaldi then introduced tonight’s special guest. “I thought, I’d like to get someone on who has meant a lot to me over the last 20 odd years or whatever. I saw a video from Reading in 2006 of this particular band, and the video of them playing this particular song, and I remember watching it and thinking that’s what I want to do when I’m older… and it really had a profound effect on me. And I still put it on at house parties… and after nights out…
“At this point of my life, really, for my money, it’s one of the best songs ever written… and one of my favourite songs ever written. So, I asked this gentleman to come tonight. Please welcome Mr Luke Pritchard from the Kooks, everybody.”
As the Kooks frontman took to the stage, the crowd began to scream. “Good evening. Thank you for having me. This is an honour, how are you guys doing?” he asked, as the distinctive strums of Naive began and 65,000 people sang along with both musicians.
“I remember the first time I heard him since, it was pretty amazing hearing that voice,” Pritchard shared with us earlier, in an exclusive interview. “I heard that Lewis liked our band and he came down to see us at Brixton Academy during lockdown. I saw him in the crowd and thought, ‘Oh my God, it’s him’. So, we kept in touch after that – but this offer, it came out of the blue. And Naive being the [chosen] song [to perform]? That was all Lewis. I actually suggested we do a B-Side and he wasn’t having any of it!
“I can’t wait for people to hear it. It really is quite special and, hopefully, it just brings people together. I wrote it as a teenanger, and it brings people together through vulnerability, I think. And I think that’s something Lewis shares in.”
From there, Capaldi ticked off even more of his most-loved tracks. Before You Go was one of many beltingly powerful moments. Taking to the piano for The Day That I Die, he played to an almost silent crowd – this time getting through the lyrics that, last night, made him teary. Once again, the in-ears came out for Hold Me While You Wait, and a sea of people swayed along to Forget Me.
Returning for the encore, Survive, gave the audience one more opportunity to sing their hearts out before the inevitable end with Someone you Loved – which became a singalong with 65,000 people.
“This is a dream come true for me, doing this for two nights. I’m going to go away after this summer and I’ll make a new album for everybody – I hope when I come back you’ll still be there and we can do this again. My name is Lewis Capaldi and I’ll see you very soon.”
Joining us all the way from California, singer-songwriter, Conan Gray, was asked personally by Capaldi to support on his festival tour. Offering a selection of great bedroom-pop, particularly for the younger members of the crowd, Gray’s tracklist included The Cut That Always Bleeds, Eleven Eleven and Heather. The performance is a part of the singer’s Wishbone World Tour that’s taking him across the US, Europe and Australasia.
With Kate Bush and Lorde as her songwriting inspiration, Alessi Rose drew in a young cult following in 2023, with her first single, say ur mine. Today, she showcased her second EP on the Great Oak Stage. “I’m super super honoured to be here,” she told the crowd. “I’ve been to BST so many times as someone in the crowd. I’ve looked up at this massive stage and thought, ‘I want to play there’. I love Lewis Capaldi, I love Conan Gray.”
Rose performed a few of her fan-favourites including Pretty World, IKYK and oh my. The latter closed the performance, with a real arms-in-the-air moment. “This is such a crazy thing for me to be doing, so I want to say thank you to everyone singing back the words, but also the people who don’t know who I am but are watching anyway.”
Jacob Alon completed another mesmerising set with a dedication to their friend, Capaldi. They said: “I’d love to give a massive thank you to Lewis for having me on this tour with him. It’s truly very generous.”
Draping a different guitar around their neck, and introducing their new song, Pushing To Pull Away, Alon continued: “I’ve actually never played this guitar before. He got it for me yesterday for coming on this tour. No one has done something so kind for me before. So I want to dedicate this song to him and tell him I love him so much.”
It’s well documented that South London singer-songwriter, Absolutely, has great talent in her family (her older sister is British star, Raye). However today she showed Hyde Park, once again, that talent sits firmly in her voice and songwriting ability, too. The 22-year-old has already collaborated with Jesy Nelson and Teddy Swims — but it was her flawless vocals that resonated with fans. Introducing the title track from her new album, the singer explained: “The song is called Paracosm — and I like to describe it as the embodiment of childlike wonder. Because when I live my life through the perspective of a child, I live my life well.”
After finding fame after being publicly praised by Courtney Love, Portland star Alexandra Savior impressed as headliner on the Rainbow Stage presented by British Airways. Her set introduced British audiences to a new album, Beneath The Lilypad. “I wanted the tracking on this album to reflect that life is up and down,” she previously explained.
Folk Bitch Trio, made up of Grace Sinclair, Jeanie Pilkington, and Heide Peverelle, brought sweet Australian energy to an increasingly excited crowd. The trio said few words, but showed off their tight harmonies through the fully acoustic set. Representing the Scottish roots of the Sunday night line-up, was Murdo Mitchell – who has been busking since the age of 10. He describes himself as embedded in the travelling troubadour scene, just as much as he is in recorded music. “What’s happening, London?” he asked. “I’ve always wanted my name in lights!”
Channelling her hero, Lana Del Rey, Beattie opened the Rainbow Stage with a mesmerising set that incorporated alt-rock, goth and indie into her set. The singer, who showcased her latest track, Know Better, also recently headlined her first sold-out gig in London. “Honestly. I’m so excited to be here,” she grinned. “Thank you, Lewis, for having me.”
Over on Birdcage, Sadie Jean showcased her story of “almost relationships” that feed the lyrics of her new album, Early Twenties Torture. The Californian singer-songwriter has previously supported Snow Patrol on tour and, more recently, Australian star, Ruel. Ber first hit the spotlight when her single, Meant To Be, went viral. Today, she showed fans the raw talent behind her social profile, releasing her debut album Good, Like It Should Be earlier this year. Mike Sharp & The Bicycle Thieves brought big-band energy to their performance against a bandstand-style backdrop. The five-piece, who recently brought us the iTunes chart-topping Sink Or Swim, had festival-goers dancing from the opening beat. Luke Hart, brought his ‘tender’ sound, including TikTok hit Binding, to the live stage before heading on tour across the UK and Ireland.
