Casper Grey shares new single ‘TRU’SAY’ out now on Kingdome recordings
Casper Grey. He’s your mum’s favourite writer, your brother’s favourite rapper, your nan’s favourite actor and your best friend’s favourite designer – an Eastend born-and-bred jack of all trades. Today, he unleashes new single ‘TRU’SAY’, the opening act of his vision as a storyteller: kitchen-sink realism played out through the voyeuristic lens of theatre.
His music acts as striking psychological portraits of the modern human condition: reckoning with the perennial themes of guilt, repentance, virtue and sin which have commanded the stage for centuries. These instincts are owed to Grey’s reputation as a rising force in British cinema, being one of the few actors chosen for a professional scholarship at Top Boy star and So Solid Crew alumnus Ashley Walter’s esteemed drama school, Kingdom School of Arts.
‘TRU’SAY’ rides the knife’s edge between rap music at its most disturbing with the collar-grabbing intensity of punk: Ian Curtis meets MF Doom. It plays out like an anti-hero’s monologue, and when Grey’s delivery is kept to a low, threatening simmer, it’s like he’s so close you can feel the hot breath on your ear. It’s a track of rage and restraint.
Speaking on the track, Casper Grey shares, “Revenge will punish you with suppressed guilt… Regret will punish you with suppressed shame. Choose your sin.”

He self-directs and produces all visuals and creative direction for the project, channelling inspiration from the unflinching character portrayals within the work of Grey’s heroes such as Jonathan Glazer & Ken Loach weaving in the surrealist, internet-age paranoia of constant surveillance.
For ‘TRU’SAY’, we watch Grey’s character panic and fight their way through the existential journey of revenge in a rotating variety of mundane locations that stifle the character’s experience with a twitching with paranoia. A sporadic run of clips can be found across Grey’s socials.
Alongside his solo projects and acting, Casper Grey is half the force behind production duo Eastend Gravy whose genre-annihilating sound featured on Rihanna’s latest Fenty Hair campaign, as well as this Grey is the founder and resident MC come selector at the new and equally revolutionary bi-monthly club night Post Genre Party where transgressive sounds cut through the internet blur dragging its audience into a brave new sonic world. Beyond music, Casper is also co-designer in the graphic outfit Somitude; the artistic duo behind the album artwork for the critically-acclaimed debut album by multidisciplinary icon Isamaya Ffrench.
Stay tuned for Casper Grey’s next act.
