This will be the third album from post-modern rock band Caspian and is titled ‘Waking Season’ and set for release on 25th September. The very talented Caspian are Philip Jamieson on guitar keyboards synthesiser, Calvin Joss on guitar, Chris Freidrich on bass,Joe Vickers on drums, Erin Burke-Moran on guitar, and Jonny Ashburn on guitar. Loosely formed back in 2003 their debut Ep ‘You Are The Conductor’ was released in November 2005. They have spent a lot of their time on the road in America having done 4 coast to coast tours before heading off to Europe in 2009, back to the USA in early 2010, and then on to China later that year. In between all of the continent hopping they released their second album ‘Tertia’ before deciding they need a break from the road to record ‘Waking Season’.
This is a surreal and haunting album that lulls the mind and sooths all cares and worries away, beautiful in its simplicity yet filled with complexly woven harmonies between the four guitars and soundly backed up by bass and drums. The vocals are heavily synthesised and add to the ethereal otherworldly feel of this album. This is music to loose yourself to in the most wondrous way, absolutely exquisite.
Their single UK date from their upcoming European tour will be held in London at Cargo on 13th October. 8/10
