The Castillians first formed in 2010, born out of the should-be-legendary ColdRice collective from Birmingham, UK, who were responsible for probably the best underground music scene in Europe that we ever came across. Alongside the other “ColdRice House Bands” (including Black Mekon, Copter, Sex Beet and more), The Castillians made their mark at home playing decadent warehouse parties which you would never invite your mother to.
In 2011 they self-released their debut album, Show Your Teeth, just on a small run of CD-Rs under the ColdRice Records banner. Like everything else released on the small label, it was one of the most played albums we’ve ever had – and earlier this year we finally re-released it so that it’s now available worldwide digitally.
PNKSLM are incredibly psyched to announce that the band’s long awaited second album You & Me, will be released on vinyl and digital on new release date February 26. The album takes a slightly more soulful direction than Show Your Teeth, but keeps up with the energy and hooks. Plus with Lucern Raze and Black Mekon producing it together, it’s still kept some of the original dirtiness. The lead single and title track “You & Me” was released in June with second single “Piggy in the Middle” arriving right before Christmas. Now The Castillians are set to unveil the third single, and the album’s crowning moment: the soul infused slow-burner “Come What May”.
