Cautious’ musical journey has drastically evolved, a reflection of the whirwhind of change the buzzing artist has experienced in the past year. Where his Blood Type EP focused on themes of relationships and identity, RESONANCE hones in on the challenges and excitement that surrounds the life of an independent musician.

KCRW gave us the exclusive look at the EP and says, “Each track tells its own story, including one of my favorites, the very bright ‘Call Me.'”

Hillydilly says of RESONANCE, “With the project, Clay continues to make it obvious he’s one of music’s best talents.”

RESONANCE is carefully thought-out, reflective, and insightful. Each track showcases Cautious’ sharp wit and poignant lyricism as he explores the idea of fame and where self-identity comes to play. Listen to EP HERE.

CC recently sold-out his show at Bowery Ballroom and released his Blood Type Remix EP, a bundle of remixes from artists including HXNS, Nick AM, Mozado, & Wacomo. “These are all producers who I respect and who have added some incredible musical perspective to these songs through their remixes,” Cautious adds. Cautious is set to join both Gallant and Alina Baraz on their upcoming fall tours, so stay tuned for show dates.

Pitchfork featured his “Cold War” video, calling it “a meditation on human interaction in the age of dating apps and social media.”

Cautious Clay‘s highly rated Blood Type EP was re-released on April 13th with a surprise addition, “Stolen Moments.”

The NY Times says, “A self-indictment delivered like an R&B love song, “Stolen Moments” itemizes a lot of good reasons to back out of a romance with the singer…Josh Karpeh, who records as Cautious Clay, croons those and more over cozy acoustic guitar chords and a creeping bass line, with wisps of falsetto vocals and saxophone in the background.”

NPR says, “‘Stolen Moments,’…is a stunning, hushed lament that plays out like a lovers’ quarrel about commitment (or lack thereof) that’s still reeling long after the last words have been thrown… By the last guitar strums, it’s clear: ‘Stolen Moments’ is a luxurious kiss-off told a day too late.”
