Chameleons Vox will be performing The Chameleons’ second and third albums in their entirety…

The support for the 19th December will be Manchester’s Dub Sex and on the 20th it’s Liverpool’s finest Ian McNabb….

Chameleons Vox prove Home Is Where The Heart Is with two timeless albums over two nights

Following on from their mammoth UK tour earlier this year, one of Manchester’s pre-eminent 1980s post-punk bands return to play a pair of very special dates in their hometown this winter.

Chameleons Vox, led by iconic frontman Mark Burgess, will follow up those live renditions of their inaugural album, Script of the Bridge, by performing for two nights in Manchester during December. The idea being to finish what they started in spring 2014 by delivering their second and third long players in their entirety on each night, thus completing their internationally renowned trilogy on stage.

Friday, 19th December will see 1985’s What Does Anything Mean? Basically take the spotlight, with tracks including Perfume Garden, Home Is Where The Heart Is and Singing Rule Britannia (While The Walls Close In). This will then be followed by Strange Times on Saturday 20th December, arguably the most innovative and inventive of the group’s initial records, first unveiled in 1986, which produced the classics Tears and Swamp Thing. Both events will take place at Manchester Academy 2, and will be the first time either LP has been performed uninterrupted in one night, making for quite the triumphant welcome return for these local heroes.

“Playing Script of the Bridge in it’s entirety on the last tour was a massively enjoyable exercise for everyone, audience and band alike,” explains Burgess. “So, when we were asked if we’d perform the next two albums, What Does Anything Mean? Basically and Strange Times this coming December, we agreed immediately. They differ from the debut album, though, in that they each contain songs that have been rarely, if ever, performed. It’s going to be a challenge to present some of them but it’s a challenge we look forward to and hopefully The Chameleons audience will too.”
