Chicago indie-soul artist Jacob on the Moon details album ‘Live! From Earth

Chicago indie-soul artist Jacob on the Moon goes from bedroom pop to beach pop with full band album ‘Live! From Earth (recorded at Audiotree)

Chicago beachy and surfy indie-soul artist Jacob on the Moon’s released his full band album Live! From Earth recorded at Audiotree last week. Chicago singer, songwriter, and producer Jake Dinneen has mostly worked as a solo artist up to now working out of his apartment studio, taking these songs from the bedroom studio to the beach leaning into a breezy, almost yacht-rock sound, shaped by the band’s live shows since after lockdown.

While these are not brand new songs, they may as well be. “These live versions are full of life” Jake said, “these live tracks are now my favorite of Jacob on the Moon so far.” With the band just finishing a summer residency off the lakefront in Chicago, the band took on a summery sound in contrast to the studio recordings that look more inward and sound more introspective.

You can find the smartlink to the album here, the stream and option to download via DISCO here, and a link to the most recent PR here(with a bio, link to assets, and more).

Chicago Public Radio’s Vocalo just shared the band’s new music in their new rotation for September, and Big Takeover, Luna Collective, MXDWN, and more have shared Jacob on the Moon this summer. Jake will be releasing new music after this live album, and it’s no question his band will shape his sound going forward.

His next show for locals is at Gman Tavern on October 4th (with Smooth Rogers).
