CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS today releases the ‘Girlfriend / Damn, Dis-Moi’ Remix EP, featuring seven new versions of her acclaimed comeback single Girlfriend, including both French and English remixes by Gerd Janson and Palms Trax. Christine’s eagerly anticipated second album, Chris, will be released on 21st September by Because Music in digital and physical formats.
Gerd Janson, revered DJ and producer also known as Tuff City Kids, takes on ‘Girlfriend’ with a Balearic, upbeat twist, while Berlin-based hot talent Palms Trax adds a vibrant disco feel. Also featured on the EP are remixes by G-funk pioneer Dâm-Funk, who worked with Christine on ‘Girlfriend’, and Kelela and GAIKA collaborator Jam City, as well as a rework by GODMODE, the LA label home to Yaeji, Shamir, Aaron Childs and Channel Tres.
Speaking about working with Christine on remixing ‘Girlfriend’, Palms Trax said “Christine is a force of nature so I was super happy to be involved with the project in some small way, with Dâm-Funk being the icing on the cake. He was basically my gateway into the sleazy side of the 80s when I was a teenager so could only ever go full Italo-disco with the mix.”

Earlier this week, Christine and the Queens performed ‘Girlfriend’ and an electrifying cover of Maroon 5’s ‘What Lovers Do’ in her BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge session. The session can be watched back in full here.
‘Girlfriend’ debuted as Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’ on BBC Radio 1 and became an instant fixture on BBC Radio 1, 2 and 6 Music A lists, as well as clocking up over five million streams to date. It was followed by ‘Doesn’t matter’’ which Christine describes as “a crisis song that I wrote late one night” and received praise from the likes of The New York Times, The FADER, The Guardian, NME, Pitchfork, and more.
Chris was written, arranged and performed by Christine and the Queens. It is the follow up to her already iconic debut record Chaleur Humaine, released to near-universal acclaim in France in 2014 and the UK in 2016, and selling more than 1.3 million copies to date.
