HIGHEST CAREER DEBUT IN THE U.S. AT #16 ON BILLBOARD 200

ALBUM RECEIVES CRITICAL PRAISE FROM THE WALL STREET JOURNAL,
NPR’S “WEEKEND EDITION SATURDAY,” ROLLINGSTONE.COM, PASTE, ETC.

(June 12, 2013 — Toronto, ON) City and Colour’s new album The Hurry and The Harm has debuted at #1 on the Top 200 SoundScan Chart in Canada.  It is City and Colour’s best debut in Canada to date, outselling Little Hell, which also debuted at #1.  The Hurry and The Harm made serious waves internationally as well, debuting at a career high #16 in the U.S., #4 in Australia, #32 in the UK, and #83 in Germany.

In addition to the commercial success, the album continues to receive widespread critical praise—The Wall Street Journal calls the album “…a worthy successor to his brilliant 2011 release, Little Hell, sharing with it moving, melodramatic songs delivered with candor and confidence by Mr. Green in a sweet, soaring voice. An excellent guitarist, he’s equally adept in a sparse solo folk setting and out in front of powerhouse players,” while RollingStone.com raves, “Green’s folk sound expands even more…laid-back drums prompt slide-guitar swells and Green’s easy falsetto.” Additionally, NPR recently profiled Green on “Weekend Edition Saturday.”

This is Dallas Green’s 4th studio album under the moniker City and Colour.  Green has earned Platinum awards for each of his previous studio releases: Sometimes (2005), Bring Me Your Love (2008), and Little Hell (2011).  Little Hell also enjoyed international success debuting at #2 in Australia, #28 in the U.S. and garnering certified RIAA Gold in Australia.

Lead single “Thirst” quickly shot to #1 on the BDS Modern Rock and Mediabase Alternative charts – another first for City and Colour. Recorded at Nashville, Tennessee’s Blackbird Studios during the fall/winter of 2012, The Hurry and The Harm was produced once again by Alex Newport (At The Drive-In, Death Cab for Cutie and The Mars Volta). In addition to Green, the album features Jack Lawrence on bass (The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather), Bo Koster on keys (My Morning Jacket), Matt Chamberlain (Pearl Jam, Fiona Apple) and James Gadson (Bill Withers, BB King) on drums and Spencer Cullum Jr (Caitlin Rose) on pedal steel.

City and Colour is currently playing sold out shows in Europe and head to the U.S. for an eight-week run this fall.  Green will also perform some festival dates in Canada, including major headlining dates June 29 in Niagara-on-the-Lake and July 12 in Vancouver.  The shows feature Green’s new touring band including Jack Lawrence (The Raconteurs, Dead Weather) on bass, Dante Schwebel (Hacienda, Dan Auerbach) on guitar, Doug MacGregor (Constantines) on drums and Matt Kelly on pedal steel guitar and keys.  A full Canadian tour in support of the new LP will be announced at a later date.  For more info, visit Cityandcolour.com
