C’mon Tigre return with “Driver Idle (feat. Perry Maysun),” the second single from their forthcoming album, scheduled for release in 2026. Following the earlier track “K//A\K//A,” released on September 19, 2025, “Driver Idle” marks another step toward a record that remains intentionally untitled and in flux, an evolving body of work shaped as much by live performance as by studio practice.
The Track
“Driver Idle” is not a narrative but a threshold. It explores the act of entering: a space, a relationship, a state of mind. Rather than telling a story, the track inhabits a transition where orientation dissolves and must be rebuilt from within.
Home, here, is not a physical place but an interior condition. The need to enter is not framed as desire, but as necessity: a search for access, for breath, for the possibility of reorientation. As the track unfolds, control slips away, coordinates collapse, space folds, and perception destabilizes. Sound itself becomes an agent of transformation, rewriting the environment in real time. Through this deformation, contact is reduced to its most minimal form: a number, a signal, a presence.
At its core, “Driver Idle” is about shedding order in order to inhabit something again: not a house, but a state. An inside.
The track resonates with a broader, shared condition: a prolonged moment of collective disorientation. Not tied to a single event, but to an era in which the systems that once provided stability (social, political, economic, identitarian) have lost their coherence. Echoing the aftermath of the pandemic and beyond, it reflects a time when habits collapse, structures reveal their fragility, and returning to previous norms becomes impossible.
In this space, rationalization fails. The more one tries to restore order, the more disoriented one becomes. “Driver Idle” occupies that silent, unheroic fall, where the question is no longer how to fix the system, but how to exist within its absence.
There is, within the track, a deeply human process: finding oneself inside an unfamiliar shape and renegotiating everything from the ground up, space, time, body, relationships, through the smallest gestures. Its political dimension emerges indirectly, describing a society that no longer seeks grand solutions, but micro-anchors: signals, traces, minimal points of contact
“Driver Idle” reflects an era that understands stability as temporary and “home” as something continuously reconfigured. It offers no nostalgia and no projection forward, only the acceptance of living within permanent transition.
The Feature
The track features Perry Maysun, a New York–based rapper and songwriter whose prolific output, over twenty projects and more than 25 million streams, has established him as a singular voice in experimental alt hip-hop. His work is marked by a raw, introspective approach, often centered on themes of mental health, pain, and identity.
In 2024, Maysun was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Throughout chemotherapy, he continued to write and record music from his hospital bed, ultimately ringing the bell cancer-free in October of that year. His contribution to “Driver Idle” carries this lived intensity, an articulation shaped by vulnerability, endurance, and presence.
The album
“Driver Idle” is the second single from C’mon Tigre’s upcoming album, due in 2026. Following K//A\K//A, released on 19 September 2025, Driver Idle arrives on 24 April 2026 as the second step toward a record that is still without an official title or release date.
The tracks were written for the album, but found their first public form on stage before being declared as such. The concert-performance that debuted at Bologna’s Robot Festival (10–11 October 2025) and JazzMi in Milan (1 November 2025) served as a battering ram: not an announced preview, but a live test, an undeclared presentation of music that was still taking its final shape.
The project moves through territory C’mon Tigre has long been drawn to, though pushed here further than before: the possibility of holding electronics and tradition together, body and machine, ritual and experimentation, without either side dominating or being reduced to a reference. This is not an aesthetic choice. It’s a question about how music is made now, at a moment when technology has changed not just the instruments but the way we perceive sound, time, physical presence. The record grows from that place: from an investigation that advances through friction, attempt and subtraction, searching for a balance that is never meant to be final.
