“The ease of their collaboration, despite living on opposite coasts, is reflected in the tracks—joyous, energetic and truly authentic demonstrations of their individual charm.”
Cool Hunting
“‘Only The Hits’ is a blissful, fun-filled collection that sounds like it was made in a basement but designed for a drive down the coast.”
The 405
“they’ve created five fun and care-free tracks for their debut EP”
Earmilk

“Music-wise, it’s also a carefree party akin to a 2017 synthpop basement jam session crossed with a 1960s doo-wop showcase. There’s even a bit of woozy psychedelia thrown in for good measure.”

Today, Cody & Danz share their new video from their debut EP via Cool Hunting. The song “So Small” comes from Only The Hits, which released on July 14th via Channel 9 Records in the USA and Tugboat Records in Japan. Cool Hunting calls the song “rambunctious” and says it “carries tremendous force without disrupting the pop sensibilities and musical intelligence of the two musicians.” On the video, Cool Hunting adds, “Directed by Derik Smith, the visuals offer a candid-like take on an ordinary hang with Crump and Danz. It’s simple, fun and works in tandem with the song.” Look out for a John Stamos appearance, as well.
You can stream the new EP on The 405 HERE or on DSPs HERE. Limited edition cassettes are available online via Channel 9 Records, along with Only the Hits merch. For in-person purchases in Los Angeles, CA, head over to Vacation Vinyl in Silverlake and Amoeba Hollywood.
Earmilk had the premiere of their first video, “Make it in America,” and say, “song is all bells and echoes and in the video those sounds vibrate from NYC all the way to LA.” The 405 loves the songs too, saying, “‘Make It In America’ highlights to pair’s effortless pop chops, complete with punchy drums, crunchy guitars and an upbeat vocal melody that is among the most addictive you’ll hear about summer.” Consequence of Sound debuted the project’s first single, “If I Only Had $ome Money,” saying it “is all about imagining the good times, especially those that involve a hefty, nonstop cash flow… the kind you obviously want to hear when tossing $100 bills in the air (like you just don’t care).”
The two artists both have burgeoning solo projects: Cody Crump and Computer Magic. Cody lives in LA and Danz lives in NYC. Consequence of Sound says, “Though about 3,000 miles separate these two musicians, their minds meet on one project, their collaborative debut EP, Only The Hits.”
Kick Kick Snare reported on Crump’s history, reporting: “A primarily self-taught musician, Crump was kicked out of the school band and choir for bad jokes, and impeached as his junior class president for getting arrested (all true).” Danz, too, is self-taught, she produces and writes music by ear. She told Novation that she discovered her talent when she starting using Abelton Live, which Novation noted as, “pretty unusual statement from an artist who caught the eyes and ears of supercool French trendsetters Kitsuné for her debut release.”

Now, Vogue hails Danz for her production, saying she “breaks the glass ceiling for female producers. Computer Magic just put out her ninth EP, Obscure but Visible, in October as a follow-up to her 2015 debut album, Davos. Known for her proclivity for “sci-fi synth pop,” according to i-D, Computer Magic is “already big in Japan.” She’s not doing too shabby here in the USA either, after a third page feature in The New Yorker, hundreds of thousands of plays on streaming services, charting on the radio charts and several sync placements, including Lexus, Aria Casino & Resort, Mark Maron’s show “Maron” on IFC, “Starcrossed” (MTV), “Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce” (Bravo), and composing music for numerous commercials in Japan for companies, such as Panasonic and Kewpie.

Cody (aka Cody Crump) just released a solo EP, HOLA, on March 17th on Binasaur Records. All Things Go, who premiered “Friendzone” (featuring Danz) from the EP, calls Crump an “electro-wizard” and said, “This one takes us back to the mid-2000’s electroclash and the sonic experiments conducted underground…This guy is making his way through the LA scene one club at a time, with well-earned recognition across the board.” Flood Magazine praised the video for “French Kiss,” another single from HOLA, saying, “Sure, the track is great—imagine Serge Gainsbourg discovering house and Stereolab without losing his randy bon vivance—but the video finds Crump and a paramour demonstrating the how-tos of making out in a way that’s not sexy, really, but helpful.”

After playing many of LA’s staple venues – from Soho House to The Roxy to The Standard, Cody Crump has plans to tour in the very near future. His music will be featured in the upcoming film “The List.” He has had music featured on HBO‘s “Leftovers,” Showtime‘s “Penny Dreadful, and most recently his song “Burn” was in ABC‘s “How To Get Away With Murder.”

Danz has toured North America multiple times with acts such as Neon Indian, Ladyhawke and Chad Valley. She’s played the Primavera Festival in Spain, Martini Art Love Festival in Moscow,  and has toured Japan multiple times. She has many shows locally in LA and New York City, so stay tuned for upcoming dates for Computer Magic, Cody Crump and Cody & Danz.
