COLOURMUSIC SHARE NEW VIDEO FOR ‘THE DUCHESS’

NEW ALBUM MAY YOU MARRY RICH OUT NOW ON MEMPHIS INDUSTRIES

Colourmusic have shared a new video for ‘The Duchess’ the opening track from their new album May You Marry Rich (out now on Memphis Industries). In the video, the human characters participate in a computer game loosely based on chess, with many of the pieces played by ballerinas and other dancers.

Formed in Oklahoma in 2005 by Yorkshireman Nick Turner and Okie native Ryan Hendrix, some years after bonding over Aphex Twin during their University days together, Colourmusic has now settled on in line up that includes bassist Colin Fleishacker and drummer Nicholas Ley.

With two previous albums under their belts, F, Monday, Orange, February, Venus, Lunatic, 1 or 13 and My ____ Is Pink, the group have gained a justified reputation for marrying hallucinatory textures and experimental rock tropes with an off-kilter take on the world, exploring anything from writing songs based on Newton’s theory of colour to songs written at the tempo people have sex.

‘Horse Race’ is one of many highlights from the new album, a lurching, behemoth groove that asks the question we all need an answer to: “do we need Wal-Marts in Heaven?”
