Communion is very proud to present its inaugural New Faces tour. Following on from the influential New Faces compilation album which was released in 2012 and featured the likes of Ben Howard, Michael Kiwanuka, Daughter, and James Vincent McMorrow, and the New Faces EP series which is run in conjunction with XFM, the New Faces tour will feature four of 2014’s most hotly tipped new artists – Luke Sital-Singh, Eliza and The Bear, Farewell J.R and Annie Eve.
Taking in 10 cities over two weeks, it’s a chance to see an incredibly exciting and diverse 4 band bill in intimate venues.
With a reputation for promoting the brightest and freshest young artists, Communion nights offer a regular sampling of the best new live music around the world. The events are all about discovery, amplifying brand new artists alongside more established acts.
There’s no one headliner on this tour, each night will be about all 4 artists, much like Communion Presents Austin To Boston which saw co-headliners Ben Howard, The Staves, Bear’s Den and Nathaniel Rateliff playing 12 shows between the 2 US cities over the space of 2 weeks.
And so to the artists on the inaugural New Faces tour, and who better to introduce the 4 names than Communion’s live co-ordinator Maz Tappuni.
First up, Farewell J.R… “I first heard about Farewell J.R in early 2012. ‘A Thought, A Mind’ and ‘Night Wolves’ are just beautifully crafted big songs. The live show gave me massive goosebumps.” Joining Farewell J.R will be Annie Eve who “first came on our radar when we she sent us a demo and so we booked her to open a club night in late 2012. Her songwriting has developed leaps and bounds since then. In a crowded space, she’s really got her own thing going on.” London based 5-piece, Eliza and the Bear “have been making BIG music for a while and it’s nice to see them getting the recognition. It’s bold and dramatic, and great live.” And the line-up is completed by Luke Sital-Singh who features on the BBC Sound Poll for 2014. “Luke just writes really direct and emotional songs. There is something very disarming about his presence and his live persona.”
