With a love of all things future and space whilst enjoying every minute as a young soloist in a boys’ choir, it’s perhaps no surprise that Jonathan Graves’ life has taken the path it has, now finding himself the sonic archi-texturalist behind hip new Brooklyn based outfit Corbu.

In the way that Swiss architect Corbu, otherwise known as Le Corbusier, was one of the pioneers of modern architecture aiming to create ‘better’ living conditions for the residents of crowded cities through urban planning, the group Corbu are equally dedicated to creating sounds that are pleasing to the ear. Utilizing Corbusier’s creative aesthetic, Graves writes music from the patterns and shapes in his own visual ideas which he translates into sound. Whether inspiration comes from dreams, films, physical spaces or a childhood love of nature and science fiction, no song will project the same musical image.

We Are Sound is a dreamy and warm collection of songs, but when Corbu play live their show is a dramatic, striking and intense experience that’s still very much earth-bound.
