CRX – the new band fronted by Nick Valensi, guitarist for The Strokes – released an action-packed video for “Ways To Fake It” today, directed by Warren Fu and featuring what else but drifting cars – watch it here.
The release comes in celebration of CRX’s debut album New Skin – produced by Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme – also out today via Columbia Records. NME said of the album: “You can immediately tell what Valensi’s aims for the record were. This isn’t stadium rock with an eye on the lighters-in-the-air crowd. It’s dirty, sludgy rock’n’roll, that sounds best when rambling around a dive bar. It’s heavier and harder than The Strokes, but his guitar lines have that familiar complexity and finesse. 4 out of 5 stars.” Read the whole review here. The album is available for purchase here.
Nick will also be doing a Reddit Ask Me Anything on Tuesday, November 1 at 4pm Eastern Time / 1pm Pacific Time.
The band will head out on a North American tour starting November 7, joined by Streets of Laredo, The Gloomies and Dead Heavens for select dates – tickets and more information here.
CRX is: Nick Valensi (lead vocals and guitar), Richie James Follin (of Guards and Willowz – keyboards), Ralph Alexander (of The Dose – drums), Jon Safley (of People On People – bass) and Darian Zahedi (of People On People – guitar).
