David E. Sugar – ‘Fingers on the Button/Although you may laugh’ (Sunday Best)

Currently receiving appreciative chin strokes on the underground music scene, Sugar’s third single from his recently released debut is a cute indie pop track with a banging four four beat and lyrics which could only be described as gibberish, fans of Clor and Hot Chip circa their first two albums will love this equally as much.

‘Although you may laugh’ is a more sombre affair, its warm synths and breathy vocals are the ingredients employed by Metronomy for their latest album, it worked so well for them and is equally as effective for Sugar.

Also on the EP is a fine mix by mash up king Leo Zero who slows the original down and adds 3am style throbbing beats and an hypnotic main riff which pours musical narcotics from the speaker directly into your appreciative cranium. 7.5/10
