Deadly Remains – Severing Humanity Album Review

Deadly Remains – Severing Humanity Album Review

Dead Remains are a four piece who hail from northern California where the sun is nearly always shining and where it is also legal to smoke marijuana. Despite this they still seem to have a bee in their bonnet about something.
Having formed in 2006 and have already had two releases. Deadly Remains are hoping to strike it lucky with their third release Severing Humanity. It is known that death metal is not my favourite genre as there are far too many bands that are sloppy and are unable to pull it off. Thankfully this isn’t the case for Deadly Remains.

This four piece take a more bass driven approach to their recording and writing process and they are not all about how many blast beats and break downs can fit into three and a half minutes of music. It is refreshing to hear something that doesn’t fit the “death metal equation” that so many bands seem to conform with.

Brutal tracks such as ‘Human Trafficking’ and ‘Scriptures of Foreign Tongues’ show that these four musicians can actually play as well as beat the living shit out of their instruments at the same time. After already playing shows with high profile bands such as Napalm Death and Putrid Pile it is obvious that Deadly Remains are set for a bright future. 8/10
