On 7th October, iconic label Wall of Sound is proud to release ‘Cosmic Youth’, the debut album from Denis The Night & The Panic Party. Impossible to pigeonhole, ‘Cosmic Youth’ is not only electro-psychedelia or a catchy mix of electro dream pop and noise, but a dervish propeller of sonic raves and vocal landscapes for your ears – a parallel space of shoegaze played loud in an astronomical observatory. Enter this emotional journey through stardust and distortion with all your senses and join a refreshingly original trip into astral grooves, subtle melodies and wild beats that will make your body want to move in frenzied bacchanalia.
Formed two years ago on the road across Italy and the UK, Denis The Night & The Panic Party is an idiosyncratic collective centered around the power trio Ono Nora Fiorani, Nicola Sbrozzi and Alessandro Gobbi. Seeking musical freedom beyond songs, they started conceiving tridimensional landscapes and soundtracks for raves.
Juxtaposing elements from psychedelia, shoegaze, garage pop, electro and avant-garde, they eschew traditional norms of music and image. The core trio soon evolved into a music and visual arts collective, featuring other like-minded artists with a sympathetic disaffection for conventions, and now includes photographer Giulia Delprato, visual artist Eddie Preti, film-makers Enzo Lauria and Karin El Taifiova.
Denis The Night & The Panic Party started touring Europe on the back of ‘Hottrips’, an EP of remixes ranging from Beck to Iggy Pop, plus a self-titled Lo-fi Live Cassette EP, before coming to the attention of Wall of Sound (Grace Jones, Röyksopp, The Human League, Propellerheads … ) in early 2016
Their stray, eclectic sound has already conquered audiences from Primavera Sound and Manchester Indie Music Week to cult indie venues like L’International in Paris and Triennale of Milan, The Panic Party has also started to spread into the UK with their recent multi-city tour, culminating with and appearence at Liverpool Sound City festival. More UK dates will be announced to coincide with the album’s release.
