Devo’s Gerald Casale Remixes The Dandy Warhols’ Single
Devo co-founder Gerald Casale casts his signature dance-inducing style upon The Dandy Warhols‘ “Pope Reverend Jim” in his new remix of the track.
On “Pope Reverend Jim (DEVO Gerald V Remix),” Casale thickens the mix, reimagines the guitar, and buries a retro kick that makes the track both more spacious and more danceable. He gives the crux of the piece—Taylor-Taylor’s tranquilizing vocal and the throbbing synthesizer that’s sustained in perpetuity—a decidedly Devo spin, and, in doing so, “Pope Reverend Jim” graduates from rock club to dance hall.
