DFA Records made label history over the holidays when Nils Bech’s haunting version of O Holy Night, “O Helga Natt,” hit #1 on the Billboard charts in Norway as the most downloaded song and #1 on iTunes. The track was also included in the hit Norwegian television show, Skam which was recently featured in The New York Times.

Already a star at home, Nils Bech released his DFA debut LP, Echo, last October. Produced by Drippin (LE1F, Cakes Da Killa) and Øyvind Mathisen, the album garnered praise from Stereogum, Dazed, Blackbook, Clash, and has since been nominated for Electronic Album in the 2017 Spellemann Awards (Norwegian Grammys). It explores “echoes” of the people in his life over the past five years; their search for love, how love can deceive and destroy, but also be the key to everything. Sonically, the record infuses urban, contemporary dance music with hip hop roots hard beats in juxtaposition to Bech’s vulnerable bass-baritone.

With forthcoming remixes from Lotic & Divoli S’vere, stay tuned for more from Nils Bech in 2017.
