(June 5, 2012 – Toronto, ON) Dine Alone Records is proud to announce the Canadian release of Dispatch’s upcoming full length LP Circles Around The Sun. Often hailed as one of North America’s greatest independent guitar bands, the Boston-based trio’s fifth full-length album Circles Around The Sun will hit the streets Tuesday August 21, 2012. Fans can take advantage of exclusive offers by pre-ordering the album today on the band’s website http://www.dispatchmusic.com/ or on iTunes: http://bit.ly/Md6JQc
“We’ve been called the biggest band nobody’s ever heard of,” says Brad Corrigan, one of Dispatch’s three singers and multi-instrumentalists. "People either know everything about us or they know nothing. There never seems to be any middle ground." How Corrigan, Chad Stokes, and Pete Francis met in college, formed a band, and — with no radio airplay, major label support, or significant press coverage — became one of the biggest draws on the live music scene, and arguably one of the biggest truly independent rock bands performing today, is a remarkable story.
Though Dispatch had not released a full-length album since 2000, and even officially called it quits in 2004, their music continued to capture the hearts and minds of new generations of rock fans through pure word-of-mouth. A 2004 farewell show at the Hatch Shell in Boston drew 110,000 people, including fans from Europe, South America, and Australia. Not one, but three 2007 shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden sold out immediately.
In 2011 the trio decided to record new music, which led to last year’s Dispatch EP and now Circles Around The Sun. Produced by Peter Katis (Interpol, Jonsi, The National), and recorded at The Clubhouse (Rhinebeck, NY), Water Music (Hoboken, NJ) and Tarquin Studios (Bridgeport, CT), Circles Around The Sun is the kind of all-American rock and roll statement of intent that Dispatch are famed for, and one which delivers the gutsy storytelling and radiant harmonies which will now endear them to a brand new audience.
In an effort to use music as a vehicle for change, Dispatch founded a not-for-profit organization to support children and education. Through Dispatch’s multi-faceted and collaborative Amplifying Education campaign, band members and fans alike are discovering together how small actions can make a big difference in the lives of children. The band will be giving $1.00 per initial pre-order to Amplifying Education. Each dollar raised will support educational initiatives in local communities. An additional $1.00 from all tickets sold for the upcoming Circles Around The Sun Tour will also be donated to Amplifying Education.
As a bonus for fans, Dispatch released their new song "Not Messin’" on Soundcloud as a free stream and download. Grab it here: http://bit.ly/MbH6PF
Dispatch has also unveiled the Director’s cut of their new video for “Not Messin”. Directed by so pa Productions (Coachella & Bonnaroo documentaries, The Low Anthem, Alexi Murdoch), the video was shot at Mishnock Barn in West Greenwich, RI – home of the region’s best line dancing – with more than 150 enthusiastic fans.
