This album is set to be the soundtrack to this rich anthology and will encompass some of the most memorable work from the likes of Run DMC, Jay Z and Public Enemy to name a few.

Semtex has deejayed on every continent and was crowned ‘Hip-Hop Mastermind’ on a special edition of the legendary BBC TV series.
DJ Semtex comments “I was raised on hip-hop and as both a fan and DJ I’ve witnessed it grow into something much bigger than anyone could imagine. These are just some of the most powerful bangers that I have played in the clubs, on stage, or on air. They are responsible for rocking many crowds”.
Hip Hop Raised Me shadows the workings from the book where DJ Semtex traces the characteristics and influence of hip-hop from its origins in the early 1970s with DJ Kool Herc’s Block parties in the South Bronx, through to its breakthrough to the mainstream and advent of gangsta rap in the late 1980s, with artists such as Run DMC, Public Enemy and Fugees, to the impact of contemporary artists and the global industry that is hip-hop today. Hip-hop artists have gone from the streets to the streams, from entrepreneurs to empires. Hip-hop has come of age.
Hip Hop Raised Me is an epic 3-disc holy grail of Hip Hop greatness out 7 October on Sony Music Entertainment. Full track-listing to be unveiled soon.
