The return of the consistently unpredictable leftfield sonic adventurers Django Django continues to gather momentum ahead of the January 26th release of their third album ‘Marble Skies’.

The first track to be taken from the album ‘Tic Tac Toe’ was heralded as a return to the genre-blending, DIY approach of their debut album, and it was instantly added to the A-list at BBC Radio 6 Music. It has received strong support at the station courtesy of Radcliffe & Maconie, Shaun Keaveny, Lauren Laverne and Marc Riley, plus Radio 2 airplay from Jo Whiley and Zoe Ball. The track has also made a flying start in the States where it went straight to #1 on the speciality radio chart.

Now Django Django continue to build towards the release of ‘Marble Skies’ by sharing another new track in the shape of ‘In Your Beat’. While ‘Tic Tac Toe’ was drawn from the band’s frenetic psych-rock leanings, ‘In Your Beat’ embraces the dance-orientated side of the Django Django musical spectrum. Opening with pitch-shifted vintage synth sounds, it evolves into an 80s tinged electro-pop banger. Joyously upbeat with an ominous undercurrent, its vibrant and innovative energy demonstrates that Django Django are firing on all cylinders.

The track’s video was directed by SKG (Sophie Koko-Gate) with art direction from Brodie Kaman. In a kaleidoscopic explosion of colour, the video touches upon a range of pop art influences, from punk collages to Richard Hamilton’s anarchic invention and Jan Švankmajer’s avant-garde animation. The imagery is all playfully synchronised to match the track’s insistent beat.

About the video, drummer/producer Dave Maclean says:  “I found Brodie’s work online and was a big fan of his graphic style and his influences from rave flyers and DIY punk aesthetics. I had the idea that we could make his posters into a video and bring them to life. He was into the idea so we brought Sophie on board to animate his mocked up posters and bring the band into his 2D poster world”.

In addition to the radio play, Django Django’s media coverage for ‘Tic Tac Toe’ has included a flurry of attention from NME, DIY, Clash, Pitchfork, Dork and more – including Dummy, who premiered the track’s ‘Where’s The Rides?’ remix. In addition, the track hit a variety of Spotify playlists including the New Indie Mix, the BBC 6 Music Playlist and the Domino Sound System.

‘Marble Skies’ is currently available to pre-order in a variety of digital, vinyl and CD configurations including a rare signed vinyl test pressing that’s limited to just ten copies. Rough Trade are retailing exclusive 2CD and 2LP editions which add six dub mixes courtesy of roots and reggae producer Wrongtom. All pre-order details can be found at  http://smarturl.it/PreMarbleSkies.

Django Django will launch the album with two special in-store performances and signing sessions at Rough Trade. They’ll visit Rough Trade Bristol on January 24th before heading to Rough Trade East on January 26th. Please visit www.roughtrade.com/events for further details.
