These were the thoughts that were going through Nigel, the singer from Dodgy’s mind when he was asked to do a cover of a Christmas song for something called the Festivus project. Not necessarily chestnuts roasting or reindeers. So being a songwriter, Nigel decided not to do a cover version and instead do what he does best and wrote and recorded ‘Christmas At The Food Bank’ in a day. What you hear is what you get.
This song will be released at the beginning of December with all proceeds going to The Trussell Trust, who are the leading charity providing food banks and tackling poverty and exclusion in the UK and Bulgaria. The song will be backed by a short film by fantastic young film maker Kris Thompson

Chris Mould, Executive Chairman of Trussell Trust said:
“Winter is the hardest time of year for people in poverty, and as fuel prices rise more families are likely to be forced to choose between eating and heating. Dodgy’s support couldn’t have come at a better time and it will help stop families going hungry this Christmas, we’d like to say a huge thank you to them for their support.”
Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. Trussell Trust foodbanks provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food, a listening ear and support to resolve with the underlying cause of their crisis. Every family and individual given food is referred by one of 20,000 frontline care professionals nationwide. In the last six months Trussell Trust foodbanks have helped over 350,000 people nationwide, over a third were children. Rising fuel prices mean that this Christmas more families could be forced to choose between heating and eating, foodbanks are working hard to stop families facing hunger over the festive period.
