The journey towards Don Letts’ debut album ‘Outta Sync’ has been thrillingly unconventional, the multifaceted creative force having seemingly done everything in music (filmmaker, DJ, co-founder of Big Audio Dynamite, author) except for making a record of his own. But as the recent singles – the title track and ‘No Fooling Me’ (featuring Hollie Cook) – have shown, ‘Outta Sync’ is shaping up to be well worth the wait, a record born from decades of experiences across a wealth of music cultures.

Now the Rebel Dread continues down that path as he shares the new song ‘Touch’, which features his regular collaborator Gaudi. ‘Touch’ will feature on the digital and CD formats of the ‘Outta Sync’ album when it’s released on September 29th.

With ‘Touch’, the duo have created an effervescent summer reggae rock groove that sounds just as vibrant booming from a sound system as it does streaming on headphones. As with Don’s other singles to date, it’s a song that comes from a simple observation and as he tells it, “This one is for those WTF moments when you’re not quite sure what you’re dealing with!”

Since releasing ‘No Fooling Me’ earlier this year, Don has maintained a typically busy and eclectic schedule. He performed at the Glade Stage at Glastonbury, where he followed two performances which featured Gaudi: first with a B2B set with another key ‘Outta Sync’ contributor in the shape of producer Youth and then with African Head Charge. Don was also recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate (the Rebel Doc?) from Middlesex University, and hosted a conversation with Ash Walker to explore the new album ‘Astronaut’ for Night Time Stories.

‘Outta Sync’ is available to pre-order HERE. The album includes a second feature from Hollie Cook on ‘Something Coming Off’ as well as further guests including Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, Zoe Devlin Love of Alabama 3, and Don’s daughter Honor Letts.

Don Letts has a number of major summer festival appearances confirmed, including UB40’s huge The Homecoming show in Birmingham on August 27th, the Reggae Land festival alongside Daddy G (The Wild Bunch and Massive Attack) on August 5th, and the South Facing festival headlined by David Rodigan and The Outlook Orchestra on August 6th. Don Letts and The Rebel Dread Band will perform select live shows this year which started with the Latitude Festival.
