The Duchess and the Fox have released their brand new music video for their holiday single “Your Present” on Impose. The nouveau-cabaret duo describes the song as a “holiday song for the lovers and the dreamers”.  The video exhibits the scenic New York City skyline, and famous landmarks such as Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Fifth Avenue, shot from Andrea Diaz’ perspective, during the holidays.

“Usually the holidays are a stressful time for most people. However, there is no doubt a particular beauty, and even sensuality to the holidays in New York,” says Diaz. The city shimmers more, people are in the mood to celebrate, and there’s a sense of urgency that comes from knowing the year will soon come to an end. People remember what happened last year and hope for more of the same, or long for something better. This song uses the mood of the city during the holidays, to explore the desire, dissolution, and nostalgia for a relationship that came and went. “

Made from the minds of downtown music legend, Joe Mcginty (Loser’s Lounge, Psychedelic Furs) and indie up and comer, Andrea Diaz (Superhuman
, the Duchess and the Fox makes sensual music for lovers, dreamers, and those undone by nostalgia for what once was. Ms. Diaz notes, “Our collaboration is based on a mutual longing for the magic that seems to be disappearing around us.  In our music, we allow ourselves to indulge in our romanticism; we paint the way we would like the world to be. It’s a very natural process–the lyrics and melody I write flow easily from Joe’s lovely piano progressions and piano lines.”

Unapologetically lyrical and sweeping in beauty, The Duchess and the Fox’s nouveau cabaret music leads listeners to an older world, where magic lies in wait, somewhere out there in the darkness. The Duchess and the Fox EP is slated for a February 9th release, and a release party will be happening on February 4th in NYC at The Red Room.
