DUTCH UNCLES ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE ‘UPSILON’
SINGLE RELEASED 19TH MAY; STREAM B-SIDE ‘REALM’ EXCLUSIVELY VIA NME.COM
BAND TO PLAY THE RITZ, MANCHESTER AND KOKO, LONDON BEFORE SUMMER FESTIVALS
Manchester art pop group Dutch Uncles return with new single ‘Upsilon’, anticipated 19th May 2015 on Memphis Industries. It’s the centerpiece of their latest album O Shudder, which was released to widespread acclaim this Spring.
“’Upsilon’ is about an overdramatic decision to quit Facebook or MySpace because, when you’re young, you don’t always have the capacity to see other people’s lives (or the bits they want to show you at least) for what they really are,” explains lead vocalist Duncan Wallis. “This is also a result of the immense peer pressure to join in with the flirt of social media.”
‘Upsilon’ is backed by a new b-side, ‘Realm’, which is streaming exclusively via NME.com now.
O Shudder is Dutch Uncles’ most direct album to date, the sound of a wildly witty band well and truly finding their stride. Lyrically, according to hip swiveling front man Duncan Wallis, the album covers themes including “pregnancy, social media, terrorism, divorce, sexual dysfunction, job seeking, health scares, doubt, love”.
