"Echo Valley" OST (Julianne Moore & Sydney Sweeney) out Friday 6/13
June 9th, 2025: Platoon will release the original soundtrack for Apple Original Films’ “Echo Valley” (Movie Trailer) on Friday, June 13. In the edge-of-your-seat thriller premiering globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, June 13, Kate (Oscar winner Julianne Moore) is a mother struggling to make peace with her troubled daughter Claire (multi-Emmy nominee Sydney Sweeney) — a situation that becomes even more perilous when Claire shows up on Kate’s doorstep, hysterical and covered in someone else’s blood. The gripping score for “Echo Valley”, which melds the serene beauty of the film’s natural setting with the story’s darker undercurrents, was written by composer Jed Kurzel, known for his impressive body of work featuring music for productions including Ridley Scott’s “Alien: Covenant,” “Macbeth” starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, Dev Patel’s “Monkey Man,” and “The Order” starring Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult to name a very few.
“I found there were two important keys to unlocking the score for ‘Echo Valley’,” shares composer Jed Kurzel. “The Mother and Daughter relationship and the environment in which the film takes place, particularly the lake. So much of the story is influenced by what is under and around the lake that I felt the music should represent its presence throughout the film. The strings are organic, rustic and woody, texturally like something you may find on the banks or lakes bed. I also incorporated synthetic elements to push the score into unnerving territory, like it was being corrupted by a darker energy. I used a similar technique with the sound of the Mother/Daughter relationship. Warm and comforting but with an ever present underlying dissonance. Working with the film’s director Michael Pearce and his crew again was an absolute joy!”
Jed Kurzel is an award-winning composer and musician. His feature film debut for the critically-acclaimed Australian movie The Snowtown Murders was named Feature Film Score of the Year at Australia’s 2011 Screen Music Awards and he has since gone on to score feature films including the aforementioned titles as well as: “The Babadook”, which William Friedkin, director of The Exorcist, described as the most “terrifying film” he had ever seen; “Slow West”, which won Jed his second Australian and New Zealand Screen Music Award for Feature Film Score of the Year in 2015; Assassin’s Creed for 20th Century Fox ; “Overlord” for producer J.J. Abrams and Paramount; and many many more.
Before shifting his focus to composing, Jed was best known as the frontman and songwriter for Australian duo The Mess Hall. Their 2006 album Devil’s Elbow was awarded the prestigious Australian Music Prize in 2007.
