Egos at The Door – Self Titled EP (Out 10.3.2014)

The music scene is currently swamped by boring hardcore bands who dress as if they are the love children of bands such as Poison and Motley Crue so it’s refreshing when you discover a band that is substance over style.A  band that just play whatever music they want, don’t stick to a certain genre and a band who don’t spend their time putting on guy liner and pouting on stage.

Egos at The Door play a bastardised style of alternative, jazz infused math music reminiscent of some of my favourite bands such as The Fall of Troy, Sikth and Dillinger Escape Plan. It brings a whopping big smile to my face that there are some home grown bands that are making music this obscure but it saddens me that I hadn’t heard of Egos at The Door sooner.

Songs with bizarre titles, more breakdowns than a series of big brother and screams that puts any mainstream rock vocalist to shame is what Egos at The Door’s self titled EP is filled with through out. If you want some music that isn’t just the normal verse/chorus/verse routine and actually stands out from the crowd then these Blackburn boys are definitely worth a listen. 7.6/10
