Electric Guest premiere new video for ‘Back For Me’

EU tour + London show venue upgrade (O2 Academy Islington, May 2)

Second album ‘Plural’ (ft. Haim, Joanna Newsom + Justin Young) out now

Electric Guest – LA-based duo Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton – have premiered the video for ‘Back For Me‘, taken from sophomore album ‘Plural’ (out now on Because Music/Downtown). The band have also upgraded their forthcoming London show due to overwhelming demand from Moth Club to London’s O2 Academy

Islington, with all original tickets valid for the May 2nd date (and a limited batch now available).

Describing the video for ‘Back For Me’, Asa told Paper Magazine: “We made this the same way we did the Dear To Me video – with a lot of help from our friends. From the strip club up the street from Matthew & I’s houses, to driving my own car, this was a family affair. All our friends came through for the club scenes & our boy Jesse Heath’s directing made it a smooth handful of days. Shout out to the girls at the club for making it so fun. One of production people asked me after the first day, “is this video about what to do when the illusion doesn’t fill you up?” “Or maybe it’s just a strip club video?” I didn’t answer her but I was glad those were the questions she was asking.”

Recorded in LA across five years, ‘Plural’ infuses Electric Guest’s off-kilter blend of electronic, pop and R&B with an even more adventurous spirit than on 2012’s ‘Mondo.’ Written during a period of self-reflection, ‘Plural’ embraces Taccone and Compton’s original instincts, forgoing detailed arrangements and falsettos in favor of a back-to-basics approach – strong, natural vocals, intuitive musical instinct, and unbridled inspiration. The result is a sonic mélange that sounds as if it’s from both the past and future, layering everything from 80s synths to iPhone drum machines to Latin and Caribbean percussion.
