“sultry soul-pop” The FADER
“seductive and soothing” Complex
‘Wasn’t Looking’ is the brand new track from Eliza (formerly known as Eliza Doolittle). Listen to it here
Taking a new direction which showcases not only a fresh musical palette but also the full range and richness of her voice, ‘Wasn’t Looking’ is the infectious follow up from previous release ‘Wide Eyed Fool’. Pinned by a funk-filled bassline, ELIZA’s soaring vocal slides all over the instrumental, equal parts soothing and seductive.
Speaking on the track Eliza said:
“Wasn’t Looking” is a song about not denying yourself love. I know myself, and I never do. He was trying to fight it, at first, but he’d never met a girl like me.”
The North London born and raised artist has already carved out an impressive career. Under the moniker Eliza Doolittle, her eponymous debut album went Platinum in the UK, spawning a handful of top 40 singles – including the chirpy earworms ‘Skinny Genes’ and ‘Pack Up; and her 2013 Disclosure collaboration, ‘You & Me’, was one of the duo’s biggest selling singles.
With much more music to come, this is the beginning of a new independently released project from Eliza showing herself in a way she’s never done before.
