Today, Los Angeles artist/producer Elohim has released the intoxicating official video for new single “Half Love.” The visual saw a broadcast premiere on MTV LIVE and mtvU and is available for streaming here.
The Chase O’Black and Daniel Russell directed video shows Elohim performing the track in a mirrored structure. Slowly shattering the screens in a direct portrayal of her album’s cover art (also shot by O’Black), the visuals cut a vibrant kaleidoscopic visual setting, reflecting the two sides of ‘Half Love’; both serene and sonically impactful.
“Half Love” is taken from Elohim’s self-titled debut album Elohim, released last Friday via BMG and available everywhere now here. The album release is the pinnacle of a whirlwind year dotted with original releases and collaborations alongside extensive touring, catapulting Elohim to new heights among the top breakout artists of the year.
Elohim wrapped a string of spring N. American headlines dates last Friday with a *sold out* Los Angeles headline @ Fonda. She will next hit the road as direct support with The Glitch Mob on their N. She has also performed at 2018 major festivals including Coachella and Buku and is set to play Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, HARD Summer, Bumbershoot, and Life Is Beautiful later this year. Previous single “Panic Attacks,” a collaboration with Yoshi Flower (who joined Elohim as direct support on her headline tour), received a Spotify Times Square billboard here and was released with an official video debuting with The FADER. “Panic Attacks” followed early 2018 single “Fuck Your Money,” which was released alongside an enthralling official video sparking Noisey to call it “a dose of positivity in a chaotic world.”
The track followed a busy 2017 including notable writing and production collaborations with Louis The Child on single “Love Is Alive,” and with Whethan on “Sleepy Eyes,” the latter of which charted on the Billboard Dance Charts garnering 20MM+ Spotify streams to-date. Elohim rounded out 2017 with new single “The Wave” showcasing her intricately arranged production against subtle melodies and crystalline vocals.
On the live side, 2017 saw Elohim captivate crowds including a direct support slot with Alison Wonderland on her Fall 2017 U.S. tour and major festival plays including sets at Coachella, Middlelands, Lightning in a Bottle, Firefly, Lollapalooza, and CRSSD.
An artist whose striking visuals run seamlessly alongside the music, Elohim released another Megan Park-directed video for “Skinny Legs” here, the same director behind the stunning visual for Elohim’s 2016 single “Hallucinating.” Keeping fans on their toes, 2017 also saw Elohim surprise-release track “Eclipse,” fittingly titled and released on the date of the N. American solar eclipse, as well as trading covers with Passion Pit (“All That Gold” here / “Hideaway” here).
A classically-trained pianist, Elohim first debuted in 2015 with singles “She Talks Too Much” and “Xanax,” and later followed with the exuberant “Bridge and the Wall” and elegantly emotive “Pigments,” which was released alongside a NERDIST-approved interactive video. Elohim released her self-titled debut EP early 2016 via B3SCI Records, which boasted singles “Sensations” and “Guts.”
Elohim has also forged notable rap/hip-hop collaborations, dropping tracks with former Odd Future member Casey Veggies on track “All That Gold” (of which she remixed herself) and a Darnell Williams single alongside Denzel Curry.
