Conceived jointly as both concept album and opera, the album of Folie à Deux features Mira Calix, Allan Clayton and Sofia Jernberg, was mixed by Valgeir Sigurðsson and co-produced by Valgeir and Emily herself, and will also be released on Bedroom Community on 20 July.

Composer Emily Hall’s music is acclaimed for clarity and directness, taking as much from classical music as it does from folk. Having delighted audiences at past festivals with inventive soundworlds, much of Emily’s work is forged through close relationships with singers and writers such as Olivia Chaneyhttps://soundcloud.com/emilyhallcomposer/emilyhallcomposereternity

Presented by Mahogany Opera Group, Folie à Deux is a sonic voyage into the shared psychosis known as ‘folie à deux’, where a delusion is transmitted from one person to another and is a lyrical and intense investigation into love and loneliness within a relationship. Folie à Deux features a brand new musical instrument – the brainchild of Emily Hall – the electro-magnetic harp, a libretto by long-time Björk collaborator Sjón and is directed by Frederic Wake-Walker.
