THE END FESTIVAL 20, 21, 22 & 23 November 2014
various venues, Crouch End, London N8
The Local presents the fifth edition of the annual festival of new music, Crouch End, N8, offering musical surprises in charming venues.
THE END promises the best underground bands from home and abroad and turns Crouch End institutions into North London’s hippest hangouts.
This year, the event will be extended to four days and takes place in seven local lovely indoor festival venues, including an ice cream-parlour, a church and a recording studio.
This ambitious project is curated by THE LOCAL and has previously proven to be one of the London scene’s best kept secrets.
Like in the previous years, the festival features carefully selected new and underground acts, reaching from folky and dreamy singer-songwriters (Eliza Shaddad, Pip Mountjoy) to groovy alternative post-rock (Billy Mahonie) – playing their first show in four years. Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor (http://www.hotchip.co.uk/category/news/alexis-taylor/) brings his solo project, and Folk Duo O’ Hooley and Tidow (https://www.facebook.com/ohooleyandtidow) close the event on Sunday 23. Emotionally loaded electronic sounds (Grasscut), exquisite DJ sets (Hangover Lounge DJ’s, Wolf Tone DJs (http://www.wolf-tone.com/), RUTH BARNES (Amazing Radio – http://www.ruthbarnes.co.uk/), crazy industrial jazz (Trio Heinz Herbert) and punky art pop (Perfect Disaster Boy).
This year, thanks to the support from FONDATION SUISA (Swiss collection society), we are delighted to present to you some very intriguing Swiss acts (not cheesy at all!) amongst our favourite UK newcomers.

Curator of THE END, Howard Monk says: “Crouch End is full of creative and media types yet only really well known for decent restaurants. However, there are a number of excellent events if you scratch the surface, and this is our latest offering. We’re keen to bring excellent touring bands out of the usual epicenters of Shoreditch, Dalston, Camden, Central London up to Crouch End for a couple of nights. Not just celebrating local acts (although there are a number on the bill), but mixing those with touring acts makes a great event.”
