“The Spark is undoubtedly going to be one of the albums of the year.” – Kerrang! Magazine
(October 3, 2017 – Toronto, ON) – Marking their highest debut on the UK album charts at #5, British rock mavericks ENTER SHIKARI have delivered their most critically-acclaimed and genre-bursting album, THE SPARK (release date: Sept. 22, 2017 via Play It Again Sam/Ambush Reality). In the U.S., the LP debuted at #22 on Billboard’s Current Alternative Album Chart.
Enter Shikari launched their North American campaign with a sold-out show at NYC’s Rough Trade on Saturday, September 30th and intimate, acoustic performances with Paste and Billboard. Tonight, the band will play an intimate, sold-out show in Toronto at Hard Luck Bar. As an added bonus for fans, Enter Shikari will host an in-store signing and meet and greet at Dead Dog Records (1209 Bloor St. W) today at 6:00 p.m., prior to their show at the Hard Luck.
On the heels of this surge, the band has announced their North American tour in support of the album. Kicking off on January 19, 2018 at Austin’s The Mohawk, the tour will circle around the continent and will include Canadian shows in Montreal (Feb 5 @ Theatre Fairmount), Toronto (Feb 6 @ Lee’s Palace), Winnipeg (Feb 11 @ The Pyramid Cabaret), Calgary (Feb 13 @ Commonwealth), Edmonton (Feb 14 @ Starlite Ballroom) and Vancouver (Feb 16 @ Imperial). Tickets for the dates will go on sale Friday, October 6 at Noon local time. For a full list of tour dates, please see below.
Their most personal and musically expansive album to date, The Spark, has been lauded on both sides of the Atlantic, with Alternative Press calling it “anthemic and authentic” and NME citing this as “Rou’s tempestuous tribute to a world on fire.” Produced by David Kosten (Everything Everything, Bat For Lashes), the album continues to surprise and excite the media, with Punktastic proclaiming “There’s no other band quite like Enter Shikari.”
Born from a volatile combination of a world spinning on its axis due to Brexit, Trump, and terrorism along with a more personalized trauma of panic attacks and self-medicating, The Spark dives deeper into the exploration of social issues that has been Enter Shikari’s lifeblood for nearly a decade now and giving it a much more personal angle. The Spark is a soundtrack to our tumultuous world, a record for everyone who’s filled with frustration but hasn’t lost the capacity for hope.
