The atmospheric post-emo band from Connecticut, The World is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, announced that their second album, Harmlessness, released September 25 via Epitaph.
The first title is being revealed “January 10th, 2014,” in which the group recalls the true story of a Mexican woman, Diana, huntress of bus drivers. David Bello, singer TWIABP, says more :
“‘January 10th, 2014’ is a song about revenge against predators. The character of the song, Diana, is based on the story of a woman in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, who avenged his way numerous sexual assaults – which have, in most cases, resulted in by prosecution, or downright ignored – committed by bus drivers. In the clip, Diana is symbolized by Wicca who protect themselves by casting spells. The male character is a predator, which must be destroyed. “

The World is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die formlessness called their first effort, and the word seems to have been stuck to the skin of the group. Harmlessness reached new heights of percussive melodies, poignant stories and songs bathed in powerful aesthetics of the complex group. TWIABP did his refusal to have any shape an art in perpetual motion. As explained guitarist Derrick Shanholtzer-Dvorak, “‘Harmlessness’ (which could lead to the harmlessness) is a state of mind to achieve, a philosophy that fits perfectly with the openness of formlessness (‘formlessness’). “
TWIABP creates a dense sound by stacking layers of sounds and guitars with multiple effects, as well as synths, cello or trumpet. Their first album, Whenever, If Ever, released in 2013 at Topshelf Records, was described as “revolutionary” by Pitchfork. The line-up of the group is constantly changing and now includes David Bello – vocals, Josh Cyr – bass, Derrick Shanholtzer-Dvorak – guitar and vocals, Steven Buttery – drums, Chris Teti – guitar and trumpet, Tyler Bussey – Guitar and Katie Shanholtzer-Dvorak – keyboards, vocals.
Preorders of Harmlessness on CD and vinyl are available via Kings Road Merch and digital version on iTunes.
