Every Time I Die – ‘From Parts Unknown’ (Epitaph)

I first heard about the band Every Time I Die when at college in about 2006 but didn’t begin to listen to them until 2008 when in my second year at university.  There was something about their riffs and balls out attitude that complimented going out every night on the sauce and blowing my student loan on booze, booze and more booze.

Every Time I Die aren’t your standard hardcore band, and they aren’t your standard rock and roll band. They are a marvellous hybrid of both. If you don’t like one aspect of their musical debauchery then you are sure like several others.

It’s a Monday night and I’ve had a bad start to the week at work so things were immediately brightened up when I found out I had the opportunity to review this little beauty. After a handful of listens the smile on my face is now ear to ear and I’m grinning like a fucking Cheshire cat.

‘From Parts Unknown’ is full throttle from start to finish minus about one  minute in the song ‘Moor’ which starts with a piano and Keith Buckley’s vocal alone  but the pace in this is quickly risen and it somehow adds another dimension to the band that I was previously unaware of.

Every Time I Die are a band who never really change and usually this gets boring but not with ETID. With ETID you know what you are getting and you know that it will always be something heavy … heavy and oddly beautiful. 8.8/10
