“cinematic” – THE FADER
“Wonderfully bipolar music that explores the highs and lows of both music and life” – i-D
“Haunting, atmospheric, trance-pop………divinely dissonant”- THE GUARDIAN
Next stages in a band’s life are meant to feel like new chapters, but Evvol have pretty much opened a new book. The Berlin-based duo have reconvened, and a new vitality is sparking.
Evvol are 2 ladies of Irish and Australian origin making atmospheric darkwave and dealing in the seedy underbellies of desire and hallucinations. Their debut album ‘Eternalism’ expands on that with moments of both introspection and total release. A new found positive energy radiates from the sounds on this record, with every crack between the synths, drums, vocals and guitar revealing complexities in its minimalism.
‘Four Steps From Home’ Video
‘Eternalism’ is bookended by the two most intriguing tracks they’ve ever written, ‘I See You (I Am You)’ and ‘Four Steps From Home’, songs rooted in emotional and physical environments of place and pulse. The record is the result of artistic and personal reinvigorations, with all band members expanding their own individual creativity with solo projects since 2013.
‘Eternalism’ is an evolution. Pushing the preconceptions of the sound they want to make has resulted in a deeply rewarding album; uncompromising, experimental and euphoric, a product of devotion to creativity, their music, and each other.
