Just premiered on BBC Introducing, ‘Exile’ is furious garage punk from one of Britain’s most exciting new bands. A free download from below. the song is taken from the band’s debut album due in 2015.
A year ago, Mourning Birds introduced themselves with the 105 second explosion of ‘Oh Yeh!’. This year Mourning Birds racked up appearances at the festivals, got signed by P-Vine Records in Japan and recorded their debut album at Foel Studios with Rhys Downing, who has done a powerful job.
The DIY, hard working, hard smoking Kent trio have survived a train-v-tree journey, poisonous spider bites, motorbike accidents, Saturday nights in drag around Medway and a mad dog called Charles Manson. Importantly, they have developed rapidly in both song crafting and live performance, adding raised potential to their glorious chaos and the great feedback and support already generated. “it’s gratifying to see just how much we have moved on from writing sub 2 minute punk numbers.”
Now with their album out in Japan on line and physically in stores like HMV, Jimmy Gilder (guitar/vocals), Bill Williams (bass guitar) and Sam Mitchell (drums/vocals) are set for 2015 UK release. Their live shows begins at the first “Best Crop” event in Ramsgate Music Hall Saturday January 17th http://wegottickets.com/event/300538
