Watch the newly unveiled video below

“Feldspar are unquestionably one of the best and brightest new names on the folk-rock scene […] The rousing, heart-breaking track deals with the struggles of modern life and depression” GIGWISE

“The band shines with intensity and confidence” MUSIC WEEK

“Stunning” STEVE LAMACQ

“Glorious, lush folk music” THE 405

“With all the natural harmonic talent of Fleet Foxes and a hypnotic resonance that really does ring down to your stomach” FOR FOLKS SAKE

The Truth: FELDSPAR are five self-proclaimed “indie-folk bastards doing triumph, heartbreak and bitterness for your amusement.” They consist of Will Green (vox / guitar), Ben Lloyd-Evans (keys / backing vox), Jonny Burgess (drums), James Forster (lead guitar) and Woody Feldwick (bass / backing vocals). They live in London, put on their own gig nights, make their own live videos and generally take the entire DIY ethic to a whole hectic new level.

Feldspar’s cracking new single ‘Young & Invincible’ was funded by their very own Pledgemusic campaign and explores themes of seizing the moment, with its euphoric, crashing chorus set against the more hushed and desolate verses. The single will be released digitally via Label Fandango on February 24th, hereby joining excellent releases by the likes of Felt Tip, Longfellow, Desperate Journalist and I Am In Love.

The beautifully shot music video for ‘Young & Invincible’ was directed by Craig Heathcote and produced by Alison Somerville, whose previous collaboration with Feldspar for ‘The Flat and Paper Sky’ won Judges Special Mention Award at the St Albans Film Festival. The intriguing narrative of the ‘Young & Invincible’ music video will resonate with anyone who’s ever wanted a second chance and shows the band themselves offering salvation to a group of troubled individuals. Watch It here –

Previously, Will and Ben learned their musical chops gigging around the dusty folk clubs and alehouses of the North, playing folk-inspired music to earnestly bearded rooms in Manchester and Leeds. Unable to grow the requisite facial hair to be considered true old school folkies and uninspired by the plinky ukuleles and toy xylophones of nu-folk, they headed to the capital where they found James Forster ripping out a solo in a Soho blues bar and promptly went electric. All that was left was for the prog-rock stylings of Jonny Burgess on drums and the impressively – and ironically – bearded Woody Feldwick on bass, and the line-up was complete.

Feldspar proper (and properly electric) began in 2012 with the recording and self-release (but of course) of ‘The Flat And Paper Sky’ Vol I (September 2012) and Vol II (December 2012). These got them their first sniffs of printed press and their first rumblings at radio, thanks to Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson at BBC 6 Music.
