Fickle Friends share new single ‘Pretty Great’
‘Pretty Great’
New single out now

‘Pretty Great’ picks up where first track ‘Amateurs’ left off at the tail end of 2019, with the Brighton band sounding more in control than ever. The new single is a tone-setting piece of indie-pop perfection that recalls the uninhibited spirit of both Katy Perry’s ‘Last Friday Night’ and the sultry Haim’s “Now I’m In It”, but with a pulsing undercurrent that replaces dealing with real life problems with partying and recklessness.
On writing ‘Pretty Great’, Natti says – “’Pretty Great came’ about after a long day of writing, starting ideas and not really loving anything we came up with. We called it quits around 9 and opened some wine and listened to a couple Sheryl Crow songs. Jack just kinda started jamming on the guitar and the words and melody literally fell out of my mouth. We wrote the song in like…an hour and didn’t know if it was a joke or actually the best thing ever…in the morning we decided it was the latter.
The video is just kinda a comment on today’s society. Always on our phones. Not really present. Two people are torn away from that and form a real connection and it’s beautiful :)”
However, since they walked off the stage at Shepherds Bush Empire over a year ago, Fickle Friends’ attention has been firmly fixed on their next album, which is due for release later in 2020. They are now back in full control of their songwriting, recording and production and as a result, feel at their strongest and most kinetic yet. They closed out 2019 in their happiest state – with a run of sold out warm-up shows in the UK, test-driving some of the new music to adoring crowds in every venue. This year promises more shows, more music and on the strength of ‘Pretty Great’, it looks set to be a Fickle Friends’ party that no-one will want to miss.
