Mercury-nominated Sunderland act Field Music (Peter and David Brewis) make their only London performance of the year – a newly composed response by the Brewis brothers to the seminal 1929 silent documentary, Drifters.
Commissioned initially for a screening of the film and performance of the soundtrack at Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival (27th September), this first London performance will take place at the beautiful setting of Islington Assembly Hall on Saturday 9th November 2013. Drifters was directed by pioneering Scottish filmmaker John Grierson and follows the working day of a herring fishing fleet as they set sail from the Shetland Islands to battle the elements of the North Sea fishing grounds. The performances will also see the Brewis’s reunited with original member and keyboardist Andrew Moore for the first time since 2007.
David Brewis on the shows “We intended to take a breather from regular band activities this year after a fairly hectic schedule touring for the last two Field Music records and this is exactly the kind of project we wanted to make time for; something which forces us to think and work in a different way and which will hopefully spur us to make something different and inspiring.”
