The second album ‘Colonel Blood’ by Fighting With Wire is due for release on 24th September via Xtra Mile Records. Hailing from Northern Ireland they are Cahir O’Doherty on guitar and vocals, Craig McKean on drums and vocals, and Jamie King on bass. The three piece were formed back in 2003 and released their critically acclaimed debut ‘Man Vs Monster’ in 2008. They quickly developed a reputation for explosive live shows as well as going through bassist like a hot knife through butter, 5 of them to be precise so far. Hopefully Jamie will stick around a bit longer as his playing really seems to fit in very well with the bands 90s American rock sound. The band have toured with Twin Atlantic, You Me At Six, and Biffy Clyro to name but a few.
From the rip roaring to the heartfelt these boys have it nailed, it’s never easy coming up with a second album when your first was such a success but they’ve done it this time. The guitars are blistering with some really fantastic solos and some very positive ‘I’m so over you’ lyrics along the way backed up with almost frantic drum work and edgy bass riffs. ‘Colonel Blood’ the album’s title song is a full on rock fuck you, while ‘Blackout’ oozes edge and attitude.
The band will be performing live later this year in Hamburg – Grunspan 31st Oct, Utrecht – Tivoli 3rd Nov, Brussels – VK Club 4th Nov, Paris – La Fleche D’Or 6th Nov, London – Koko 7th and 8th Nov, Glasgow –ABC 9th Nov, Birmingham – Academy 11th Nov, and Manchester – Ritz Ballroom 12th Nov. 7.5/10
